I’d argue it’s a great whisky, but Springbank 12 is a study in how great whiskies can sometimes be challenging or outright baffling if you don’t know what you’re getting into. I hope you decide to take the plunge!

Redemption is fine. Not fine as in “a fine spirit,” but “fine” in the sense of being perfectly adequate on all levels without ever managing to astound.

Nobody really expects anything from this spartan-looking bottle. Until they take a sip and have to hunt around on the floor to see where their jaw went. A favorite of mine and a future favorite of yours. Overall Rating: ★★★
