It's always something of a backhanded compliment if you recommend a particular bottle for cocktails. Truth is, Rittenhouse is always a right answer when it comes to any drink that calls for whiskey.

Aged rum can be stupidly cheap. However, an age statement of more than two decades carries some hefty expectations, regardless of price. In this respect alone the Kirk and Sweeney falls short.

Supposing that you're a brown liquor drinker with a bit of a sweet tooth, I don't think you're going to find too many rums that are flat-out better than this. And the cost? Well, sometimes life is full of unexpected surprises. Overall Rating: ★★★
Well, it's certainly a pretty package, and if we weren't spoiled for choice in the rum category, I'd probably pick it up more often.

Though the joke might be wearing thin, Ron Swanson most definitely isn't wrong on this one. It's a whisky that manages to be refined in spite of how ubiquitous it is in the world.
